“Lord, My God” (“The Calm Within the Storm”)

When suddenly you see how God has been present in every detail all along
In the storm.
The silence.
The lessons you didn’t understand at the time.
And in the quiet spaces you overlooked.

You are in the details
The tiniest thread of difference
In the tapestry of my life
The very air I breathe
For every breath is your breath
And every heartbeat, Your heartbeat
The calm within the storm

For when the rains pour
From the expanse of the heavens
And the sky rages
With thunder and light
I should have feared

For I did not know You were with me
Yet somehow my soul already knew

“Peace, be still.”

For I never feared them
But I missed the message in the calm
In the midst of the storm
When I was at ease
For I didn’t recognize the correlation
To the trials I faced

For my trials were my storms
The kind of storms that had me
Trembling on my knees
In spirit, cowering in the recesses
Of my mind

It wasn’t until
I found You, found Your truth
That I have come to know
Mind, body, and soul

“Be still and know.”

For You are the Lord,
my God.
